One of the most unique National Park hikes 🥾

📍The Narrows in Utah’s Zion National Park

We’ve hiked a TON all over the world, but we’ve NEVER done anything quite like The Narrows, where you actually walk DIRECTLY through the Virgin River for several miles.

Here’s what you need to know about hiking The Narrows:

🥾 The total trail is 8 miles long roundtrip, but you can turn around whenever you feel like it. It seems like most people only hike about a mile and a half down the river, so don’t let the length scare you! There’s also about a mile at the beginning of the trail that just follows along the riverside if you don’t want to get wet at all!

💦 The water of the Virgin River is COLD and can go up to your armpits in some areas. There are several outfitters outside of the park that rent out waders, neoprene socks, and water shoes for when it’s colder (for around $55/person) or just neoprene socks and water shoes when it’s warmer (for around $35/person). I definitely think it’s well-worth the money!

🎟️ You don’t need a permit to hike the trail but I would recommend starting early to avoid the crowds!

☔️ Be sure to check the weather and don’t hike if there’s rain in the forecast. Flash floods are a huge problem here, so it can be really dangerous on days where there’s any precipitation.
